偉大なチャーリー・パーカー(1900-1955)が晩年に残したカルテットとクインテットの最高のスタジオ録音からマスター・テイクのみを収録したアルバムです。(1)-(8)はパーカーにしては多くないカルテット編成からの選曲で、(9)-(12)はマイルス・デイビスも参加した1951年のクインテット編成でのスタジオ録音。(13)-(18)はパーカーがディジー・ガレスピーと共演した最後のスタジオ・セッションで、同時にセロニアス・モンクと共演した唯一のセッションでもあります。数あるディスコグラフィの中でも音質良好な傑作です。(jazzyell 115号より)
