Album Description
2007 Digitally Remastered Edition of the Classic Live Album Recorded by the Early Lineup of David Coverdale's Whitesnake. "Live in the Heart of the City" was Actually Released Twice, and this Edition Brings Both Versions Together in One Package for the First Time. Of the Two Versions, the First was Recorded at London's Hammersmith Odeon on November 23, 1978 and was Issued as an Extended EP (Just Over Half an Hour Long). The Objective was to Introduce Whitesnake to the Japanese Market. The Second Version was a Proper All-singing, All-dancing, Long-player, Again Recorded at Hammersmith, this Time on June 23 and 24, 1980. Now You have the Complete History on These Two Discs as Well as One Track that was Previously Unreleased, Another Take of "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City".

名ライブ盤２枚フルサイズの奇跡のセットの再現
８０年に日本限定販売された「LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH」と、翌年リリースとなった
「LIVE...IN THE HEART OF THE CITY」の２作品のカップリングです。

日本では、前者が限定販売されていたため、それぞれ別売りされましたが、
イギリスでは、上記２作品がセットとなって２枚組として販売されておりました。
このＣＤは、それを正にＣＤとして再現したセットです。

実は、筆者はこのセットを永年探し続けていたのですが、中々ありませんでした。
重複する曲を割愛して１枚モノにされることが多く、念願のセットがリリースされて、
感動しております。（探し始めて約１０年かかりました）

違いは、ドラム奏者。前者がDAVID DOWLE、後者がIAN PAICE。しかも、後者はアルバム
「READY AN' WILLING」が大ヒットした直後の、正に絶頂期のライブ。但し、前者は、
いぶし銀とも言える演奏でＤＰ時代の名曲（MIGHT JUST TAKE YOUR LIFE, MISTREATED）
が聴けるのが貴重です。

今聴きなおしても、このメンバーでのソウルフルかつ渋い演奏は素晴らしいです。
カヴァーデイルの歌唱は、この時こそ「魂の咆哮」と言える、正に名演だと思います。
今のＷＳも好きですが、やはり、この時期のＷＳの方がいいと思うオジさんも多いのでは
ないでしょうか。何故オジさんが「今のＷＳは堕落した･･･」とか「昔はよかった･･･」
と言うのか、その理由は、このセットをお聴きになれば、一聴瞭然だと思いますよ♪
