ディープ・ダウンホーム・ファンキー・ブルース
　シカゴ・ブルースのキー・パーソンとして活躍したハーピスト、ジェイムス・コットンのファンクブルース期を代表するライブ盤。

　ジェイムス・コットンは５０年代から”Cotton　Crop　Blues”などダウンホーム・ブルースの傑作を幾つもものにしていたが、７０年代のファンクブルース期は彼の独自の魅力が楽しめる特別なものだ。ここでも活躍している業師マットマーフィーをはじめとするバックもコットンのヴィジョンを見事に音像化している。ついつい忘れがちになるブルースのパワフルな推進力を、いち早くよみがえらせた傑作。

　まあ、難しい事を言う前に、この強いビートの前で馬鹿になっちゃうのが一番の正解でしょう。これは、文句なしに気持ちいいです。
