シルヴァートーンからの新作も好評なバディ・ガイ,本作は79年のアリゲーター盤。この頃のガイはうっ積した不満(スランプ時期なのだ)を晴らすかのように暴力的に弾きまくる。あまりのヘヴィさにぐったりするほど。欲求不満のブルース・ファンへの特効薬だ。

Cut during a period when Buddy Guy was rarely recorded, this blustery and breathtaking live set is full of idiosyncratic solos that dart after virtually any musical urge that strikes him. Such unpredictable improvisational impulses are more familiar to jazz than blues, but along with his whisper-to-scream singing, that's what makes Guy commanding onstage. His fevered take on the standard "Outskirts of Town" is outright incendiary. Buddyの怒り炸裂？？？
Buddyの長いキャリアの中で、少しだけ不遇時代であったのかな？このアルバムは彼の怒りや苛立ちを現したように聴こえます。
とにかく高いテンションで弾きまくり、歌いまくりでうなり声まで出ています。円熟味を増した最近の音より、私はこの頃の音が好きです。
まあ、この人も一度聴いてしまうと嵌まってしまい、どんどんアルバムが増えてしまいます。
