   テレビ番組「サタデー・ナイト・ライブ」でジョン・ベルーシとダン・エイクロイドが結成して人気となった「伝説の」シカゴのブルース・ブラザース、ジェイクとエルウッドの2人組はレコードを制作したのち、映画の大画面に登場した。1980年の大ヒット作、アクションいっぱいの『ブルース・ブラザース』である。2人は苦労して昔のバンドを再結成し、共に育ったシカゴの孤児院の危機を救うのだが、ご機嫌な大騒動を引き起こしてクック郡の全警察から目を付けられてしまう。その結果、大金のかかったスタントのお祭りがそれまでになく、いやその後もないほどの規模で繰り広げられることになる。ショッピングモールをめちゃめちゃに壊し、数え切れないほどのパトカーが登場する長時間のカーチェイスもある。全編、アクションを引きたてる音楽が流れ、レイ・チャールズ、アレサ・フランクリン、キャブ・キャロウェイ、ジェームス・ブラウンらが登場し、観客は間違いなくノックアウトされる。何気ない顔でウィットを繰り出すベルーシとエイクロイドが演じるブルース・ブラザースは「神の使命」を帯びているが、肝心の使命をまっとうする過程で向こう見ずな浮かれ騒ぎが生じ、コメディの魅力がそがれないようになっている。そうでなければ本編はバカ騒ぎがあまりにも延々と続くせいで飽きられてしまう作品（事実、本作と1998年の続編『ブルース・ブラザース2000』をそう評している評論家もいる）になりかねなかった。ラスト近くで、スティーブン・スピルバーグが大事な書類にサインする市役所の職員の役で登場するので、お見逃しなく。（Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com）

After building up the duo's popularity through recordings and several performances on Saturday Night Live, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd--as "legendary" Chicago blues brothers Jake and Elwood Blues--took their act to the big screen in this action-packed hit from 1980. As Jake and Elwood struggle to reunite their old band and save the Chicago orphanage where they were raised, they wreak enough good-natured havoc to attract the entire Cook County police force. The result is a big-budget stunt-fest on a scale rarely attempted before or since, including extended car chases that result in the wanton destruction of shopping malls and more police cars than you can count. Along the way there's plenty of music to punctuate the action, including performances by Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, and James Brown that are guaranteed to knock you out. As played with deadpan wit by Belushi and Aykroyd, the Blues Brothers are "on a mission from God," and that gives them a kind of reckless glee that keeps the movie from losing its comedic appeal. Otherwise this might have been just a bloated marathon of mayhem that quickly wears out its welcome (which is how some critics described this film and its 1998 sequel). Keep an eye out for Steven Spielberg as the city clerk who stamps some crucial paperwork near the end of the film.--Jeff Shannon

☆My favourite band☆
初めてブルースブラザーズのことを知ったのはUSJで彼らのライブを見たのが最初でした。それ以来彼らの大ファンです。
この映画は私が今まで見た中でもっとも楽しい映画です。

別にブルースブラザーズはそんなひどい人ではないのになぜか彼らを追いかける警察官は日ごとに多くなり、最後には機動隊（？）のような人たちも登場します。

カーチェイスも大迫力だけど、この映画ではなぜか笑ってしまうんですよね。。そんなところが本当に良いです☆

特に好きなのは映画の終盤にあるライブです。『Everybody needs somebody to love』は本当に名曲です！！
私は毎日聴いて彼らから元気をもらっています☆

After visiting “The Penguin”, a nun at their old orphanage, they have a quest to save their old orphanage which requires the reformation of the Blues Band. We follow them on their quest, kibitzing when we can as the come across many of the musical greats from the past as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, and James Brown.

Toss in some neo-Nazis (Henry Gibson), Twiggy, Carry Fisher, and the entire Cook County police force in an intense chase scene.

Will the band get together?
Will the escape the revenge of Carry Fisher?
Will they be caught by the Real “Good Old Boys?”
Will they be caught by the Cook County Police force?
Will they be able to save the orphanage?
Will we have fun and lots of good music? (YES)
